Foody Friday: THE Best Hummus

I'm usually inept when it comes to deviating from recipes, but I did exactly that with this greek yogurt and artichoke dip recipe...and what resulted was the creamiest, tastiest hummus I've ever tried. Here's the recipe: 1 can of chickpeas, drained (I know, BPA is bad news. I didn't have the patience to soak them, though, and dealing with me when I'm hungry is also bad news). three heaping tablespoons of greek yogurt (for what it's worth, it was rBGH-free). 3 artichoke hearts (also canned...I'm an awful person). 3 medium...

Sometimes making decisions is tough. When I can't decide what to order while eating out, I almost always go with soup, salad, or both. Here are a few of the soups and salads I've been eating lately.   Do you have any preferred restaurant standbys?   Here are four reasons why we should all be eating salad on a regular basis.   Have a great weekend! There are still a few days to enter the perfume giveaway. :...

Foody Friday: Hail Merry Macaroons

If there's one thing that I am, then it's a habitual snacker. So obviously, when I was given the opportunity to review Hail Merry's blonde and choco macaroons, I took the appropriate steps to make it happen. The short list of familiar, organic ingredients were an initial reassurance, but they were the furthest thing from my mind once I tasted my first choco macaroon. Delicious might be an understatement, so let's say it was delicious^3. Chocolate has never tasted so good. And the blonde macaroons were just as tasty!...

For me, one of the best parts of vacationing is being able to eat delicious food nonstop without feeling the usual amount of guilt. My vacation mode internal dialogue- "Two pieces of pie and a cookie for dessert? Well, I am on vacation. Why not? And maybe I should wash it down with a tub of melted butter... " Below are some of the tastiest dishes and treats I've been allowing myself to enjoy this week.

Oh yeah! Danielle and I did manage to make the Mango Lime Virgin Margaritas I mentioned in yesterday's post. As per...

Our friends Jason and Christina came to visit this past weekend, and we decided to make the above deliciousness the night before they left. This might be the most indulgent treat I've shared in a Foody Friday post yet, but I see nothing wrong with occasionally living a little.  Using dark chocolate in place of the white could've easily made this snack much smarter (and perhaps tastier if you're a dark chocolate fan like me), but we had an entire box of Baker's white chocolate left over...

Foody Friday: Roasted Strawberries

I came across the tastiest looking recipe for roasted strawberries on Design Sponge last week, and I just so happened to have all the necessary ingredients (pictured above) except for one. After determining that I could substitute the port wine with marsala, I went to work making my own batch of roasted strawberries. The whole process was an absolute breeze!

First, I quartered the strawberries.

Foody Friday:My Tasty Breakfast

Pictured above is my delicious breakfast from Wednesday. It consisted of 1 cup of black coffee, two delicious (albeit mangled) organic fried eggs, two pieces of Nature's Own 100% Whole Wheat toast topped with homemade peach jam, and a mixture of  black beans and goat cheese.  Adding goat cheese to the black beans was purely experimental, but I'm so glad I tried it. What a combo! Also food-related is this article I bookmarked a couple of weeks ago about which...

I should make smoothies more often.

Link to I should make smoothies more often.

I made a delicious smoothie recently, and the ingredients were as follows: 2 heaping cups of frozen mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries) 1 large banana, sliced 2 tablespoons of unsweetened almond milk 1/2 cup of freshly-brewed green tea 2 handfuls of organic spinach 1 serving of liquid vitamins (I was making enough for Kirby as well, but I was afraid that putting two servings of vitamins might make it taste like a flinstone vitamin). If you've ever added spinach to a smoothie, then you know that it doesn't alter the taste at all....

Yogi Ginger Tea is great for overeaters like me!

Link to Yogi Ginger Tea is great for overeaters like me!

I've had a cup of Yogi Ginger Tea after dinner for the past three nights, and each time I was pleasantly surprised to find that it actually made me feel less full! I've been a fan of Yogi Ginger Tea for a while (I was actually convinced that I had posted about it at some point, but I searched high and low and found nothing), but only because it's 100% organic and 100% tasty. I never knew it could actually make me hate myself a little less after a meal! I'm not at all promoting a lifestyle of...
