Hey friends, Today I thought I'd share some links with you guys that I've been enjoying lately. Here you go! Do you own any of the Three Essential Oils to Keep in Your Medicine Cabinet? Tea tree oil works like a charm on mosquito bites. I promise! A friend of mine sent me an article that lists Seven Surprising Uses for Baking Soda, and there were a few that were new to me. I can't wait to put baking soda to the test with blemishes, baths, and tummy aches! I am dying (an exaggeration) to try several of the Top Natural...

In case you're interested, here's the Mushroom Ragu recipe we used. We substituted the chicken broth with Not Chick'n Cubes, and we managed to find organic heavy cream.   Danielle, Kirby, Kyle, and I finally weeded the garden. It needed it. I cannot wait to try one of the first tomatoes... if they ever decide to show up. Interested in a few foody articles? Here ya go: 7 Edible Weeds- Dandelion wine? Oh my word! Dog Toothpaste, Protein Shakes, and a Fantastic Article

I've been trying my best to brush Clementine and Winston's teeth daily, and their new Chicken flavored toothpaste is making that an increasingly manageable task. Clementine thinks she's getting a treat every time she sees her green toothbrush (and sometimes my white one), and Winston no longer objects to the process with cowering and sneezes. I try to avoid using products on my pets that I wouldn't use on myself, so I intentionally chose a toothpaste that was both sulfate and paraben free. Even better, all of the ingredients have have hazard scores no higher than two in...

Below are the highlights of my week in the categories of breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert (respectively).   Fyi, the toast ideas weren't entirely mine. I was inspired by a toast post I saw over at A Cozy Kitchen, which happens to be the only food blog I frequently read. I swapped the ricotta for chevre on the avocado toast and the almond butter for the dark chocolate version on the strawberry toast. I also snapped a few Instagram pictures at the Farmer's Market this week, but I really should've taken more. There were so many colorful fruits and...

For me, one of the best parts of vacationing is being able to eat delicious food nonstop without feeling the usual amount of guilt. My vacation mode internal dialogue- "Two pieces of pie and a cookie for dessert? Well, I am on vacation. Why not? And maybe I should wash it down with a tub of melted butter... " Below are some of the tastiest dishes and treats I've been allowing myself to enjoy this week.

Oh yeah! Danielle and I did manage to make the Mango Lime Virgin Margaritas I mentioned in yesterday's post. As per...

Kirby and I recently went with two of our friends to Beaumont for a day of shopping, and we ended up eating at a place called Chaba Thai. The food was delicious, and I ate way too much of it. I had Green Curry with Tofu, and our friend Missy had Pad Thai with Tofu (both pictured below). Kirby's spicy shrimp dish was pretty great too, but there wasn't a very large window of time for photographing pretty plates since we were all famished (an exaggeration).   Lake Charles' lack of a Thai restaurant is a real shame, if you ask me.   Also, I've...

Here are some delicious and mostly healthy lunch, dinners, and desserts I've been enjoying lately (sidenote: Instagram makes eating almost twice as fun!)-

Before I go, here are a few interesting food related articles.

Just Because It's Organic Doesn't Mean It's Healthy- I am occasionally guilty of buying a box of cookies made with organic flour/sugar and thinking all is well with the world. And there's BPA in Amy's canned foods?! I'm not big into canned anything, but that's...

Likely inspired by the tasty Sweets & Beets Chips I bought a couple of weeks ago, Danielle made a few homemade batches of her own one night this week. They were absolutely delicious, and I actually felt good about eating them since they were baked instead of fried. I've been trying to eat more salads lately, and the above creation might be the best homemade salad I've had yet! Baby spinach, artichokes, avocado,...

Hello friends, I hope today feels less like a Monday for you guys than it does for me! Here are a few things to look forward to on Turby and John in the near future: I'll be posting about an easy and fun DIY project some time this week. Here's a little sneak peak that hopefully won't spoil the surprise- Rediscovering a Care2 article about questionable ingredients (7 Ingredients to Ban From Your Bathroom) has inspired me to compile a list of the most hazardous ingredients commonly found in health and...

Foody Friday: Sweets, Beets and Ladybugs on a Log

I was feeling a little snacky yesterday, so I did the reasonable thing and made a snack.  My ladybugs on a log are slightly more fancy than regular ol' ants on a log because the celery is organic, the peanut butter is mixed with a little honey, and I used dried cranberries instead of raisins. Also, I just discovered Sweets & Beets Chips (made with, as you'd expect, sweet potato and beet chips), and they are so delicious. They're the perfect balance between sweet and savory, and with...
