I'm currently reading Bossypants (and loving it), but I plan on reading the above gem when I finish. Danielle is letting me borrow both. Have I mentioned that she's the best?

I'M GONNA LEARN SO MUCH ABOUT HEALTHY EATING!

Speaking of healthy eating, are you participating in the No More Dirty Looks 10 vegetables or fruit a day challenge? I...

I couldn't have asked for better Christmas gifts than the ones given to me by my sister and my boyfriend. from Danielle:

From left to right and top to bottom- Rock Sugar, Bar Soap, Mustard Bath, Teavana Tea. The soap, sugar, and teas smell like a dream, and I cannot wait to use that mustard bath.   and Kirby:

So I didn't get bangs or all my hair chopped off, but I'm feeling better about my long hair than I have in months. Amber at Intricid Salon tells me that I can easily achieve the long, lovely locks that I want with the help of a daily mutivitamin and less razoring. Oh boy! Until then, maybe I'll just pretend to have short hair occasionally with the help of this sweet...

A Hair Rut

I'm getting my hair cut today, and it has caused me an unnecessary amount of stress. I should probably do something, since I've been in kind of a hair rut lately, but I'm having trouble deciding on the specifics.

A small part of me wants to leave the salon with a cute bob, similar to the one above.

Katie's sweet bangs make me wish I hadn't even decided to grow mine out.

New Year, New Goals

I'm not good at keeping promises to myself. Last year, my new year's resolution was to work out every other day. That might've lasted for a week, and by the end of it my idea of working out was wearing ankle weights to check the mailbox. This year's resolutions are a little less rigid; I'm taking it easy since this'll be my last year on earth (jokes). Five goals for 2012: Drink more tea (herbal, green, white, black...you name it!) Eliminate beef and pork from my diet completely. I already eat them very infrequently, so this should be easy peasy. Read...

Did you know that the benefits of cranberries are significantly weakened when the fruit is mixed with sugar? Talk about a letdown. After reading the sad news, I was determined to make a sugar-free cranberry snack. I will not be deprived of the phytonutrients I deserve! Initially I tried just eating the berries raw, but they were seriously too tart to be enjoyable. So last night, with the help of my sweet mom, I made a batch of homemade cranberry stevia lemonade using a recipe for cranberry juice I found. We left...

Rosewater and glycerin, anyone?

Link to Rosewater and glycerin, anyone?

I recently read a little about the benefits of rosewater, and I was prompted to pick up a bottle of the above mixture during yesterday's visit to the health food store. It's a combination of water, rose oil, and vegetable glycerin. I'm not exactly sure how I'm supposed to be using this stuff, so I've just been splashing a bit on my face after cleansing and before moisturizing.  I've only used it twice so far, so I'm hardly ready to review it. We'll...

On Taking a Break from the Oil Cleansing Method

While I had fun experimenting with the oil cleansing method (as well as moisturizing with a mixture of oils), I can honestly say that I'm glad to be using my old favorites again--Karen's Botanicals Perfect and Gentle Cleansing Lotions. With these guys, I don't have to worry about proportions or adjustment periods...and sometimes leaving out the guesswork is just what I need. For those of you who are interested, the mixture of oils I used was equal parts grape seed and castor oils...

Link to Dealing with Breakouts: Dos and Don’ts

We can't all have awesome skin all the time. There are at least a few days out of each month when my skin takes to misbehaving. Over the years, I've developed a pretty effective regimen for whipping my skin back into shape that just might work as well for you as it has for me. I've compiled a list of dos and don'ts to share; feel free to bookmark it and bring it out the next time you're stuck with a pesky blemish or three! Do: Moisturize just as frequently and cleanse just as sparingly as you would otherwise (paraben-free moisturizers and...

When Stevonne from Beija-Flor Naturals contacted me about trying the company's Beija-Flor Naturals Amazon Anti-Oxidant Treatment, I was intrigued. Stevonne was remarkably upfront about the product's ingredients, and with good reason---they're pretty stellar. After seeing such impressive ingredients, I was expecting a lot from this product...and I wasn't disappointed! Ingredients (provided in the Beija-Flor Naturals Etsy Shop)- "Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter, Cocoa  Butter,Tucuma Butter, Rice Bran Oil, Passion Fruit Oil, Vitamin E, Acai Oil" This preliminary report I created for this product in the Cosmetics Database...
