Choosing a Natural Insect Repellent

Link to Choosing a Natural Insect Repellent

Mosquitoes in Lake Charles are a different kind of awful than I'm used to encountering. Applying a little bug spray before an evening cookout always got the job done in Mississippi. Here, I've been getting bitten throughout the day and through my pants while covered in my go-to bug spray. That isn't to say Burt's Bees Herbal Insect Repellent doesn't help at all (I get twice the bites when I forgo wearing it), but it definitely isn't providing optimal protection. And since my supply is dwindling, I thought I'd do a little...

In visiting my bag of samples recently, I found three samples Kiss My Face Eye Repair Creme. Instead of using each packet before opening the next, I put them all in a small container with a top. It seemed to be the sanitary and practical thing to do, and it was basically like getting a .5 oz container of eye creme for free! Ingredients (provided at kissmyfacewebstore.com)- Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Leaf Extract),* Glycine Soja (Soybean Oil),* Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower Oil),*...

I received this a sample of Boscia's Eye Treatment with my most recent Sephora order, and it seemed like the right product to try when I woke up a few days ago with a swollen eyelid. I'm not even sure if that's the kind of "puffiness" that the product description is referring to, but I figured it was worth a try. Ingredients (provided at sephora.com)- "Water, Cyclomethicone, Butylene Glycol, Triethylhexanoin, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Vinyl Dimethicone/Lauryl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Betaine,...

Link to Sometimes Monday isn’t so bad.

The following three things are making my Monday less...Mondayish: EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetics Database recently got a makeover, and I think it looks fantastic! Not only is it more aesthetically pleasing, but it also seems to be more user friendly. The most helpful change I've noticed is the new data availability rating, which seems to be much less confusing than the previous data gap feature. Click the link to read more about the changes. Whole Foods has just implemented an Ec0-Scale Rating System for household cleaning products. Products will be color-coded according to how safe...

Link to Safe and Natural Feminine Wash: Does it exist?

A friend of mine recently came to me with a great idea for a post, so I did some research on on the topic and put something together that is hopefully both informative and helpful. She began with mentioning how she stopped using baby oil after her showers upon discovering that it was unsafe on the Cosmetic Safety Database (with it being a petroleum byproduct and all).  While browsing the CSD, she also discovered that the Summer's Eve Feminine Wash for Sensitive Skin that her friend had been using had all kinds of awful ingredients that you...
