Remember my little Christmas list from a few days ago? Well, I added some stuff to it. Wanna see? 1. Foxy iPhone pouch- I don't actually need this, but I'm a sucker for animal-adorned accessories. 2. Beautiful Turquoise Netti Pot- Maybe I can finally stop using my boring blue plastic one! 3. Subscription to Dog Fancy Magazine- I love dogs, and I love magazines. The end. 4. Subscription to...

Link to Advice For Friends: Natural, Inexpensive Moisturizer

A friend came to me with a  problem a few days ago, and I figured that someone else had to be having the same problem. So, I decided to post about it! What she said: "Can you recommend a good face moisturizer that's not too expensive? My skin varies from oily to dry, but in the colder months it's pretty consistently dry. I've been using a Bobbi Brown moisturizer. I like it, but I'm looking for something more natural and less expensive." What I said: First, I told her that we actually seem to have similar skin. Mine also gets very dry in the winter,...

Exfoliating is important!

Link to Exfoliating is important!

As neurotic as I may be about cleansing and toning my face, I often forget to exfoliate. Sometimes I'll go weeks without exfoliation even crossing my mind. I usually start to notice a difference in my skin by week two of no scrubbin', though. My skin starts to look dull, and tiny whiteheads start to appear in the most inconvenient places. Why do I do this to myself when I know that this will consistently be the outcome?! That question's rhetorical; I don't know the answer and neither do you. Still, it's something I need to get on the ball...

The decision to stop using bar soap to wash my face was one of the best that I’ve ever made. Before buying this product, I used Karen’s Botanicals Rehydrating Olive Oil Cleanser, which is a product that I also adore.   My friend and roommate, Selena, recently purchased a new toner after loving mine of the same brand. Here's her review! I recently purchased Fennel Sage Toner for oily skin from Karen's Botanicals after using Dawn's Melissa Rose Toner and absolutely loving it.  I didn't even realize that I should be using toner, until Dawn explained to me that it might help my oily oily skin.  I feel like Karen's Botanicals toner is kind of a miracle product and I...

I know that I've discussed my potentially greasy face with you guys before. I have to be careful when choosing a moisturizer, and I  usually try (and fail) to steer clear of oil-based moisturizers (with the exception of eye creams).  When I read the description for this product, I knew that I had to at least give it a try. Ingredients- (provided at karensbotanicals.com)- "Aloe Vera gel*, pure vegetable Glycerine, Melissa extract*;  Bergamot, Tea Tree, and other selected essential oils. *Denotes certified organic. Use within one year of purchase." Product Description (also provided at karensbotanicals.com)- "A...

I have tried several different toners in the past few years, but I usually ended up throwing them away or simply forgetting to use them when the bottle was still half full.   I never really saw enough of a difference in my skin to continue using or purchasing them. But after buying and loving Karen's Botanicals Rehydrating Olive Oil Cleanser, I decided to give her toner a try.  I wasn't really surprised when I ended up loving it too.  The Melissa Rose Toner is for normal to dry skin.  I was reluctant to try the Fennel Sage...

Link to My bad, Karen (a re-review).

I would like to apologize for jumping the gun and telling the internet that Karen's Botanicals Calendula Rose Facial Cream smells like ham. After being assured that I must have received an expired or defective sample, I gave it another try.  To my surprise, the cream smelled nothing like ham the second time around.  Apparently I did initially receive a bad sample. re-review: Scent- While the scent is not something that I consider entirely pleasant, it certainly is not unpleasant.  It would not prevent me from purchasing the product, especially since the smell fades within a few minutes of applying the cream. Performance-...

Tuesday is a good day.

Link to Tuesday is a good day.

Since I am about to run out of conditioner and facial cleanser, I ordered some more online today. I also got some eye cream, because even though I love the miracle conditioner mentioned in my previous post...I want something specifically formulated for the sensitive skin underneath my eyes. The best word to describe my skin is combination, but it's definitely more dry than oily. This stuff is recommended for dry skin, but it's winter time and I do what I want. I decided to get the lavender instead of the palmarosa (as stated in my big long list post) because the former...
