<p>After seeing a recipe for <a href="http://thegreenbeautyguide.com/makeup-remover-recip/" target="_blank">homemade makeup remover</a> on the <a href="http://thegreenbeautyguide.com/" target="_blank">Green Beauty Guide Blog</a>, I decided to make my own version with the ingredients we had on hand. I typically use coconut oil to remove my eye makeup, but I&#8217;m almost out of my current stash&#8230;so trying something new seemed appropriate.</p>
<p>This makeup remover is super simple, and it gets the job done!  It doesn&#8217;t leave quite as much of an oily residue as coconut oil does, which is nice.</p>
<p>To make this product, I used:</p>
<ul>
<li>1 oz of green tea</li>
<li>1 oz of grapeseed oil (you could probably use olive oil if you don&#8217;t have grapeseed!)</li>
<li>1/2 oz of vegetable glycerin</li>
</ul>
<p>I simply funneled the above ingredients into an empty bottle I had lying around. The bottle has a pump, which is especially convenient for applying only a small amount of the product onto a cloth or cotton ball.</p>
<p>The oil/glycerin and the tea separate, so be sure to shake this product before using it (if you decide to make your own batch)!  I&#8217;m keeping my remover in the fridge, as the Green Beauty Guide Blog suggests. : )</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve had my bottle of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Yes-Carrots-Make-up-Remover-8-45-Ounce/dp/B001EWETAA/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt" target="_blank">Yes To Carrots Can you C Me Eye and Face Makeup Remover</a> for at least two years. I&#8217;ve had it for so long, in fact, that the company has stopped selling this product and replaced it with a <a href="http://www.yestocarrots.com/product/makeup-removing-cleanser?product_id=191012" target="_blank">Makeup Removing Cleanser</a>. Since it is still being sold online <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Yes-Carrots-Eye-Face-Makeup-Remover-/150617349755#ht_720wt_905" target="_blank">elsewhere</a>, I figured a review wouldn&#8217;t be entirely pointless.</p>
<p><strong>Ingredients</strong> (provided on product packaging)- &#8220;<a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/706945/WATER/" target="_blank">Spring Water</a> and <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/718216/DAUCUS_CAROTA_SATIVA_%28CARROT%29_JUICE/" target="_blank">Carrot Juice</a> and <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/705656/ROSMARINUS_OFFICINALIS_%28ROSEMARY%29_LEAF_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Rosemary Extract</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/700229/ALGAE_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Algae Extracts</a> (<a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/718856/DUNALIELLA_SALINA_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Dunaliella</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/706261/SPIRULINA_MAXIMA_%28ALGAE%29_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Spirulina</a>, Rhodella), <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/701707/CUCUMIS_SATIVUS_%28CUCUMBER%29_FRUIT_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Cucumber Extract</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/705315/PROPYLENE_GLYCOL/" target="_blank">Propylene Glycol</a> and <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/705889/SESAMUM_INDICUM_%28SESAME%29_OIL/" target="_blank">Sesame Oil</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/704252/OLEA_EUROPAEA_%28OLIVE%29_OIL/" target="_blank">Olive Oil</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/705966/SIMMONDSIA_CHINENSIS_%28JOJOBA%29_SEED_OIL/" target="_blank">Jojoba Oil</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/717663/CHAMOMILLA_RECUTITA_%28MATRICARIA%29_FLOWER_OIL/" target="_blank">Camomile Oil</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/700991/CALENDULA_OFFICINALIS_%28POT_MARIGOLD%29_FLOWER_OIL/" target="_blank">Calendula Oil</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/704777/PERSEA_GRATISSIMA_%28AVOCADO%29_OIL/" target="_blank">Avocado Oil</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/707096/PRUNUS_AMYGDALUS_DULCIS_%28SWEET_ALMOND%29_OIL/" target="_blank">Almond Oil</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/701871/DEAD_SEA_MUD/" target="_blank">Silt (Dead Sea Mud)</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/703687/MAGNESIUM_CHLORIDE/" target="_blank">Magnesium Chloride</a>, Organic Extracts of: <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/701711/CUCURBITA_PEPO_%28PUMPKIN%29_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Pumpkin</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/719876/IPOMOEA_BATATAS_%28SWEET_POTATO%29_ROOT_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Sweet Potato</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/703820/MELON_FRUIT_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Melon</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/704320/CITRUS_AURANTIUM_DULCIS_%28ORANGE%29_FRUIT_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Orange</a> &amp; <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/702870/HONEY_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Honey</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/705944/SILT/" target="_blank">Silt (Dead Sea Mud)</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/705889/SESAMUM_INDICUM_%28SESAME%29_OIL/" target="_blank">Sesame Oil </a>and <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/701263/CETYL_ALCOHOL/" target="_blank">Cetyl Alcohol</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/706311/STEARIC_ACID/" target="_blank">Stearic Acid</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/706639/TRIETHANOLAMINE/" target="_blank">Triethanolamine</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/702512/FRAGRANCE/" target="_blank">Fragrance</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/705656/ROSMARINUS_OFFICINALIS_%28ROSEMARY%29_LEAF_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Rosemary Extract</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/701088/CARBOMER/" target="_blank">Carbomer</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/704133/NIACIN/" target="_blank">Niacin</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/702582/GINKGO_BILOBA_%28MAIDENHAIR_TREE%29_LEAF_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Ginkgo Biloba Extract</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/700269/ALOE_BARBADENSIS_%28ALOE_VERA%29_GEL/" target="_blank">Aloe Vera Gel</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/705309/PROPOLIS_EXTRACT/" target="_blank">Propolis Extract</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/706564/TOCOPHEROL/" target="_blank">Vitamin E</a>, <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/703119/IMIDAZOLIDINYL_UREA/" target="_blank">Imidazolidinyl Urea</a>.&#8221;</p>
<p>I couldn’t locate this product in the <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep" target="_blank">Cosmetics Database</a>, so I’ve linked to each ingredient individually above. The ingredients with hazard scores higher than 3 are as follows: Triethanolamine (5), .Fragrance (8), and Imidazolidinyl Urea (5).   Additionally, there is no data for Dunaliella Extract, and Rhodella Extract couldn&#8217;t even be located in the database. Here&#8217;s what <a href="http://www.goodguide.com/ingredients/269475-rhodella-reticulata-extract" target="_blank">Good Guide</a> has to say about Rhodella Extract.</p>
<p>Some great things about this product:</p>
<p>1. It’s paraben free.</p>
<p>2. It&#8217;s cruelty-free.</p>
<p><strong>Product Description</strong>(provided on product packaging)- &#8220;Don&#8217;t you love that feeling at the end of the day when you can take off your makeup and finally put your feet up? Can you C Me Eye and Face Makeup Remover will have you on your couch in no time. This exceptional blend of carrot juice, minerals and Dead Sea Mud removes all traces of both eye and face makeup to refresh, stimulate and revitalize your skin.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Price</strong>- around <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Yes-Carrots-Eye-Face-Makeup-Remover-/150617349755#vi-content" target="_blank">$8.00</a> for an 8.45 fl. oz. bottle.</p>
<p><strong>Performance</strong>- I&#8217;ve  had this product for so long for several reasons, but mostly because it&#8217;s not my preferred makeup remover. Since I usually only wear eye makeup and a bit of concealer under my eyes, I try to stick with removers that will take off my makeup with minimal scrubbing/rubbing.  Unfortunately, this product just doesn&#8217;t remove my eye makeup easily enough. Even when I use a ridiculous amount of it, it still doesn&#8217;t hold a candle to coconut oil. It&#8217;s a shame, too, because it does leave my skin feeling super soft.</p>
<p><strong>Scent</strong>-It smells like all Yes To Carrots products, which is a powdery and pleasant (albeit generic) lotion scent.</p>
<p><strong>Rating</strong>- 5/10. I deducted 2 points for the questionable ingredients and another 3 for the less than ideal performance.</p>
<div>
<p><strong>Would I purchase this item again? </strong>I think I&#8217;ll stick with coconut oil for removing my makeup; it has fewer ingredients and it works better.</p>

<div id="attachment_432" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 396px"><a href="http://turbyandjohn.com/files/2010/05/rose_vanilla_eb_large.jpg" rel="lightbox[423]"><img class="size-full wp-image-432" title="Nothing Nasty Rose Vanilla Lip Balm" src="http://turbyandjohn.com/files/2010/05/rose_vanilla_eb_large.jpg" alt="Nothing Nasty Rose Vanilla Lip Balm" width="386" height="267" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">I&#39;m a sucker for pretty packaging.</p></div>

<p>9. <a href="http://www.nakedjuice.com/#OurJuices/Background/MainMenu/Families/Superfood/bottle1" target="_blank">Gold Machine Naked Juice</a>- Putting juice on this list may seem silly since it is so cheap and easily attainable, but I can&#8217;t find this at any of the stores around these parts.
