The following three things are making my Monday less...Mondayish: EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetics Database recently got a makeover, and I think it looks fantastic! Not only is it more aesthetically pleasing, but it also seems to be more user friendly. The most helpful change I've noticed is the new data availability rating, which seems to be much less confusing than the previous data gap feature. Click the link to read more about the changes. Whole Foods has just implemented an Ec0-Scale Rating System for household cleaning products. Products will be color-coded according to how safe...

Link to Snacking Smart:Homemade Snow Cones

After taking Clementine for a walk in the park yesterday, I wanted nothing more than a large and delicious snow cone. I briefly considered picking one up on the way home, but a Styrofoam cup filled with high fructose corn syrup didn't sound entirely appetizing. I decided to make my own using ingredients we had around our kitchen, and it was probably the best snacky decision I've made since my recent smoothie-related one. I stuck to a...

Okay, guys. I'm probably about to sound really lame, but please try your best to avoid any harsh judgement. I recently joined an online tea community called Steepster where people can share what tea they're drinking and how they feel about the tea as a whole. You can even stock a virtual cupboard with the teas that you actually have at home! I'm pretty intrigued by the whole thing, because I'm approaching this experience as a welcomed opportunity to learn about new, awesome teas....

Link to Being sick is my current excuse for buying tasty beverages.

I'm feeling a little better today, but I'm still not at my best. Hopefully I'll be back to making relevant and helpful posts soon, but today I just wanted to share a few of my favorite sick time items with you guys: 1) Bananas- Sure, they have Vitamin C, Potassium, and Vitamin B6, but they're also easy on a sore throat (unlike potato chips, for instance). 2)Ricola Honey Lemon with Echinacea Cough Drops- These guys aren't overwhelmingly sweet like some other throat lozenges tend to be...

After reading that white tea has anti-aging properties, I felt immediately compelled to buy some. I've been drinking Celestial Seasonings Perfectly Pear White Tea over ice for the past few days, using either local honey or stevia as a sweetener. I think that it's lovely, and Danielle says it tastes like...

Link to Yeah, I drink hot tea in the summertime.

After my recent brush with insanity, I decided to run out and buy some calming teas. I walked into the store intending only to buy Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer Tea , but I ended up discovering that there is a new vanilla-flavored Sleepytime Tea!!!! I threw it in my shopping cart without a second thought. I've had a cup before bed for the past two nights, and I can safely say that it meets all my expectations. It works just as well as the Sleepytime...

I'm a big fan of hot teas. While grocery shopping, I tend to  find myself on the tea aisle picking out two or three new flavors (which is ridiculous, considering the overwhelming amount of tea that I already have at home).  Last night, I discovered something delcious; I cannot keep it to myself. I mixed     and         and some honey. The result was something wonderful. It tasted a little  like a liquid fruit...

I scoff at insomnia.

Link to I scoff at insomnia.

1) Melatonin- I take one 3 mg pill of these bad boys about thirty minutes before I get in the bed. Since melatonin is a hormone that the body (more specificially, the brain) already makes, I don't feel guilty about taking them to help me sleep. Word to the wise, do not take these unless you plan on getting eight or more hours of sleep: any less and you might feel surprisingly hungover. Also, in most situations I opt for the natural version when given the choice between natural or synthetic, but when it comes to melatonin it's probably safest...
