Product Review: S.W. Basics Makeup Remover

Makeup Remover

As much as I love my BFF coconut oil, I’ve recently become aware of a few of its shortcomings. For one, it can and does occasionally make my eyelids rather puffy when I use it to remove my eye makeup. My preferred alternative? S.W. Basics Makeup Remover.

Ingredients (provided at store.swbasicsofbk.com)-  ”Sweet almond oil*, Extra-virgin olive oil*, Jojoba oil*

*Organic”

The Cosmetics Database gives is product a low hazard score of 0.

Some great things about this product:

1. It’s free of parabens, phenoxyethanol, phthalates, and tons of other stuff you wouldn’t want on your face.

2. It’s made entirely of organic ingredients.

3. The little glass bottle is reusable and precious.

Product Description(provided at store.swbasicsofbk.com)-  ”Makeup removers go onto some of the most sensitive skin on your whole body. So we kept ours as simple as possible (don’t we always?): some super-light, organic sweet almond oil, a bit of organic extra-virgin olive oil, and a little jojoba oil. Shake it up and put it on with a cotton ball to get off all that gunk without any burning eyes or greasy residue. And it doubles as an awesome light moisturizer, so go a little nuts with it.”

Price$14 for a 2 oz bottle.

Performance– As I already mentioned above, this product gets rid of my eye makeup without irritating the sensitive skin around my eyes and/or making my lids puffy. It’s gentle, effective, and pretty dreamy in general. I won’t lie—as my bottle slowly grows emptier by the day, I’ve been increasingly anxious.

Scent– Smells like olive oil to me.

Rating– I’m subtracting 2 points for the price since I’m not currently in a position financially to splurge on makeup remover. However, this product easily earns an 8/10.

Would I purchase this item again? I would, but I’ll probably just make my own and save a few dollar billz.

*I received this makeup remover as part of a Quarterly Co. subscription. I was not compensated in any way for this review.
