Basq Revive Resilient Body Oil

I was recently a maid of honor in my lovely sister Erika‘s wedding, and I received the above bottle of oil as one of several gifts for my troubles (because visiting California for the first time and being introduced to beautiful spas, fancy cocktails, and amazing food was such a hassle…PSYCH). Anyway, today I’ll be reviewing said oil.

Ingredients (provided at basqnyc.com)- “Corylus Avellana (Hazel) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulicis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat Germ) Oil, Fragrance, Tocopheryl Acetate, Vitis Vinifera (Grape Seed) Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract; Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Globulus), Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate), Fragrance.”

This preliminary report I created for this product in the Cosmetics Database gives it a low hazard score of 1. The only ingredient with a hazard score above a o is tocopheryl acetate. I left fragrance out of the preliminary report since theirs does not contain phthalates (phew!)

Some great things about this product:

1. It’s free of parabens, sulfates, phenoxyethanol, phthalates, and petrochemicals.

2. It’s cruelty-free.

3. It comes in a handy glass bottle.

Price- $19.50 for a 2 oz. bottle

Performance- I realize I should probably use this product sparingly so as to make it last, but I enjoy it so much that I’ve been moisturizing pretty much all over with it (with the exceptions of my chest, armpits, and face). For an oil, it isn’t especially oily, and it’s plenty hydrating and skin-softening for even the most neglected of areas. In short, I love it!

Scent- Bright, uplifting citrus. It makes itself known without being overwhelming, which is nice. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t remind me a little of fruity pebbles.

Rating- I’m subtracting half a point for the price and an entire point for the presence of tocopheryl acetate in the product. 8.5/10

Would I purchase this item again? I think Erika had the right idea when she gifted her maids and matron of honor this oil. It’s a little too pricey for me to justify buying it for myself, but I’d gladly give a friend a bottle for a special occasion.

*This product was given to me as a gift. Regardless, all opinions are my own.
