Today I’ll be reviewing the last of three products I received from Primavera for review, which is the Neroli Cassis Protective Lotion. Considering how impressed I’ve been with each of the products they sent, Primavera is looking more and more like a pretty stellar brand!
Ingredients (provided at primaveralife.com)- “Water (Aqua),Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil* org, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil* org, Glycerin, Distarch Phosphate, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Juice* org,Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil (and) Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract* org,Glyceryl Stearate, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Leaf Extract* org, Sodium Citrate, Hydrolized Milk Protein, Xanthan Gum, Cyamopsis Tetragonobla (Guar) Gum, Magnesium Stearate, Fragrance (Parfum), Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Flower Oil* org, Levulinic Acid,Tocopherol, Silver Sulfate, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Seed Oil* org, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract* org, Alcohol* org, Plantago Lanceolata Leaf Extract* org, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract* org, Citral, Geraniol, Benzyl Benzoate, Limonene, Linalool”
As with the cream cleanser I reviewed last Thursday, the preliminary report that I created for this product in the Cosmetics Database gives it a hazard score of 5. The ingredients with hazard scores above a 3 are linalool, unspecified oils, geraniol, benzyl benzoate, limonene, and citral. I also feel the need to restate the following: With the exception of benzyl benzoate, these are all naturally-occurring scent ingredients (none of which I am allergic to). For these reasons, I’m not too worried about the hazard score this product earned.
Some great things about this product:
1. It’s free of parabens, synthetic fragrances/perfumes, and phenoxyethanol.
2. It’s cruelty-free.
3. It contains organic ingredients.
4. Ingredients are sourced from fair trade growers.
5. It too comes in a beautiful green glass bottle that I plan to reuse.
Product Description(provided at primaveralife.com)- “This lightweight lotion absorbs easily, providing daily moisture to naturally shield skin from the elements.
- Organic Neroli Essential Oil soothes dry, flaky skin while calming and balancing the senses.
- Organic Cassis Seed Oil seals in natural moisture using essential fatty acids, smoothing, softening and strengthening skin.
- Organic Cranberry Extract helps protect against damage caused by environmental free radicals.
- Organic Fig Extract is deeply moisturizing and helps maintain smooth, hydrated skin.”
Price– $40 for a 1 fl oz bottle… and yeah, that’s a bit more than I usually pay for moisturizer. My advice is to use sparingly.
Performance– Remember the positive things I said about the Primavera Cream Cleanser? They all apply to this lotion as as well—handy pump, gentle product, clear/soft skin. WIN.
For the curious, here’s a picture of my skin as of late (and a less than flattering view of my armpit creases):
Scent– Like the other Primavera products I’ve reviewed, this lotion has a fruity scent that rings citrus. I like it!
Rating– The few questionable ingredients and steepish price cost this product 3 points. However, the 7 out of 10 I’m giving it are easily earned.
Would I purchase this item again? Price and essential oil components aside, I am big into this lotion. If I happened to have the money lying around, then I most likely would.
