After hearing great things about The Seaweed Bath Co’s products from several fellow natural beauty bloggers, I sent the founder, Adam, an email requesting a few products to try. His prompt response let me know that he’d be happy to send a few of his creations, and he even let me choose which products to test out! One of the three products I picked, and the one I’ll be reviewing today, is the Wildly Natural Seaweed Soothing Body Wash in Lavender.
The Seaweed Bath Co’s products are formulated specifically for people with psoriasis and eczema, and while I fortunately suffer from neither… my skin can certainly be finicky on a good day and nearly impossible to please on a bad one. For these reasons, I had a feeling that Adam’s products would be perfect for me. Check out Adam’s inspirational story about his struggle with psoriasis that led him to create his own line of natural cosmetics; it’s definitely worth the read.
Ingredients (provided at seaweedbathco.com)- “Water, Saponified Oils of Coconut, Safflower with Bladderwrack Seaweed Extract, Castor, Sunflower, Babassu, Olive, Neem and Kukui, Glycerin, Spirulina, Carageenan, Xanthan Gum, Silver Citrate, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Lavender Essential Oil.”
The preliminary report that I created for this product in the Cosmetics Database gives it a hazard score of 2. The only individual ingredients with hazard scores above 2 are potassium sorbate and silver citrate.
1. It’s free of parabens, phthalates, phenoxyethanol, and sulfates.
2. It’s cruelty-free.
Product Description(provided at seaweedbathco.com)- “Our Wildly Natural Seaweed Body Wash with Lavender combines the naturally nourishing properties of our seaweed with all-natural ingredients, including Kukui and Neem Oils, to soothe and moisturize your skin.”
Performance– I had a good feeling about this body wash as soon as I poured a little into the palm of my hand and noticed the consistency. It’s creamy, rich, and doesn’t have the telltale obnoxious lather that conventional brands tend to have. It’s remarkably moisturizing for a body wash, and it cleans my skin without stripping it and drying it out. It’s great for washing my hands and cleaning makeup brushes as well. In a pinch, I’ve even used it to wash my dishes with impressive results. Seems like a winner to me!
Scent– Calming lavender at its dreamiest.
Rating– I’m subtracting a single points for the two ingredients with hazard scores above a two, but it’d be a crime to give this body wash anything lower. 9/10!
Would I purchase this item again? Absolutely I would.
