Red Lips on a Budget

Tell Your Friends:

Ilia Beauty

Remember the red lipstick I included in my recent Five Finds for Swimsuit Season post? Well, I wasn’t playin’.  I really do want a bright red lipstick, and fast. Unfortunately, as awesome as I’m sure Ilia’s Wild Child is, it’s a little out of my price range. I’m nothing if not persistent, so I did a little searching online for a more reasonably priced alternative.

I had the most luck with Etsy:

Each of the above can be shipped anywhere in the US for $3 or less, and they all cost under $20! The shades are pretty perfect too. Now I just need to decide which one to make my own. Wanna help me decide?
If you have a favorite natural red lipstick that isn’t mentioned here, then I’d love to hear about that as well!

  • In the moment, I don’t have any red lipstick. I bought a lot of samples of Just Pure Minerals (they have Etsy and usual website) and the red shades they have is not so vibrant and it’s more brownish…
Take a look at the swatches I did:

Thanks for sharing! The reds aren’t exactly what I’m looking for, but I love some of the pinks. 🙂

  • I have a gloss from Sobe Botanicals…it’s nice 🙂  But I like their mineral lipsticks and lip/cheek colours even more!  They come in lipbalm tubes, so not the snazziest packaging, but the actual product is fantastic.  I think there are a few different reds to choose from 🙂

Thanks so much! Checking them out now, and I think I’ve narrowed it down to the following:

    1) Cold Heared
    2) Harlequin
    3) Mayhem

Maybe I’ll go crazy and get all three? It’d still be cheaper than one tube of Ilia once shipping was calculated!

I ordered the Mayhem cheek & lip color and I AM PUMPED. 🙂

  •  Yay!  I hope you like it 🙂

I like honeybee gardens in Desire.. not crazy bright but a good, saturated red. You can order samples from their site. Lucky vitamin or Vitacost sells it for under 10$, usually.

Wonderful, Michele! I’ll have to check it out ASAP. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
