Someone recently asked what the point of using toner is, and I must’ve been caught off guard since what tumbled out of my mouth was a string of utter nonsense. After having time to collect my thoughts, though, I realized that I’m not entirely sure what toner is supposed to do exactly. I mean, I’ve used it for years because it seems to improve the texture and overall appearance of my skin, but as far as specifics? I was as lost as a goose in a snowstorm until I did a little research.
I scanned several articles devoted to the benefits of toner, and there were a few perks that seemed worth mentioning:
- Toner adds a layer of protection (this seems to be especially true of toners that contain vegetable glycerin).
- Toning balances your skin’s pH level (which is specifically why I’m a fan of toning with Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar).
- If you’re short on time, then toner can serve as a quick alternative to cleansing/washing your face (since I’m almost always late, this fun fact is especially helpful).
How about you? Do you use toner? Why or why not?
Oh, and just for fun…here’s a creepy picture I took of myself while sitting in front of the blinds in our kitchen:
Chilling, right? Good luck sleeping with that stored in your mind grapes.
