After a friend of mine recently sent me a link to Persephenie’s site, I became smitten with the lovely packaging and stellar ingredients. Taking the next logical step, I emailed the company requesting a few samples. To my delight, they gladly obliged. Lucky me!
Ingredients (provided at persephenie.com)- “Certified Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), infused Neroli Flowers (Citrus aurantium var. amara) in Organic Marula Oil (Sclerocarya birrea), Coconut Oil (Cocus nucifera), and a combination of botanical essential oils and absolutes.”
The preliminary report that I created in the Cosmetics Database gives this product a hazard score of 1. The only ingredient with a hazard score above a 3 is unspecified oils (4). I left out absolutes since the site didn’t recognize it.
Some great things about this product:
1.It’s free of parabens, sulfates, and synthetic fragrance.
2. It contains organic ingredients.
3. It’s cruelty-free and vegan, as are all of Persephenie’s products.
Product Description(provided at persephenie.com)- “Our Marula oil is hand pressed by a woman’s collective and is from a sustainable resource in S. Africa. It is rich in antioxidants and oleic acid, essential components for maintaining healthy vibrant skin.”
Price– $38.00 for a 1.69 fl. oz. bottle.
Performance– I love a body oil that doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. This product dries quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft and looking radiant. A little goes a long way, and I find this oil to be especially appropriate for the more neglected areas such as elbows, knees, and feet. What a satisfying post bath treat!
Scent– Remember the This Works Stretch Mark Oil I reviewed a while back? It smells a lot like that. It’s warm, rich, calming, and oh-so-dreamy.
Rating– 9/10. I subtracted half a point for the slightly steep price and another half a point for the 1 questionable ingredient.
