Danielle gave me two Pacifica Solid Perfumes around a year ago (Sandalwood and Mexican Cocoa), and I immediately fell in love with the Sandalwood-scented one. I used it for a couple of months until it started making my head hurt (which tends to happen to me with any scent when I expose myself to it for long enough).  I decided to give the other one a try, even though it didn't really smell like my cup of tea while it was in the tin.  Surprisingly, after I applied it behind my ears and on my neck,...

My friend and roommate, Selena, recently purchased a new toner after loving mine of the same brand. Here's her review! I recently purchased Fennel Sage Toner for oily skin from Karen's Botanicals after using Dawn's Melissa Rose Toner and absolutely loving it.  I didn't even realize that I should be using toner, until Dawn explained to me that it might help my oily oily skin.  I feel like Karen's Botanicals toner is kind of a miracle product and I...

I know that I've discussed my potentially greasy face with you guys before. I have to be careful when choosing a moisturizer, and I  usually try (and fail) to steer clear of oil-based moisturizers (with the exception of eye creams).  When I read the description for this product, I knew that I had to at least give it a try. Ingredients- (provided at karensbotanicals.com)- "Aloe Vera gel*, pure vegetable Glycerine, Melissa extract*;  Bergamot, Tea Tree, and other selected essential oils. *Denotes certified organic. Use within one year of purchase." Product Description (also provided at karensbotanicals.com)- "A...

Stevia Lemonade

photo credit: katerha Lemonade is probably second favorite beverage that's not very good for me (Horizon Organic Chocolate Milk is my number one favorite).  I'll occasionally tell myself that it is a fruit juice since it's made from the juice of fruit, but in reality lemons don't do my body nearly enough good to make up for all the...

I've always been the pretentious jerk at cookouts who passes up the communal bug spray.  I'm just too weirded out by all the chemicals. I can't make myself okay with it, not even once in a blue moon.  Now that I have a natural alternative that works, I can bring my own and avoid seeming like a turd. Ingredients- (provided at burtsbees.com) - glycine soja (soybean) oil, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, cymbopogon schoenanthus (lemongrass) oil, thuja occidentalis (cedar) leaf oil, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, cymbopogon nardus (citronella) oil, eugenia...

This might be ridiculous, but…

I think Fitflops are too cool! They're not entirely aesthetically pleasing, and they're not super cheap (from fifty to eighty dollars), but I can wear them while grocery shopping in place of ankle weights and not feel like a turd.  I might just ask Kirby to hook me up with some of these for my birthday. In case you care: the benefits of Fitflops p.s. I have a feeling that the superbuff girl in the benefits picture didn't achieve that figure by walking in Fitflops alone. That's a model...

I ran some errands with my sister today and ended up making a few purchases. Burt's Bees Herbal Insect Repellent- I've been meaning to try this for a while now.  I always forget about until I'm at a cookout and the only stuff available is Off!  I usually just suck it up and let the bugs bite me. Living Foods Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil- This is a definite upgrade from the jar that I just finished (which had a picture of shrimp on the label, and was found tucked between the olive and vegetable oils in Walmart).

I've always had very long eyelashes that hold curl pretty well.  I'm just lucky, I guess.  Since I have decent eyelashes to begin with and am not expecting mascara to fix any problem, I rarely hate any mascara. I just like some more than others.  Here are a couple of reviews regarding the two I've been using recently: Coastal Classic Creations Whispering Seas Mascara in black- Product Description (provided by website)- "Our 'Whispering Seas' Mascara was created meticulously, ingredient by ingredient, eliminating any questionable toxic ingredient heretofore found in many mascara products. Made with the same high purity,...

Any dog shampoo experts out there?

Clementine and Winston, my sweet dogs, have a big bad flea problem every year around this time.  We've been using Hydrosurge Oatmeal Soothing Shampoo from Walmart (I'm not proud of that; it doesn't have the best ingredients).  It's not relieving their itching at all, and it's certainly not killing the fleas.  We have resorted to using dish detergent, which kills the fleas.  Still, I'm very uneasy about using something that's made for washing dishes on my dogs. I also think that it's making their skin dry (duh.) and, as a result, more itchy. I've...
