I love organic green tea with an unrivaled passion. I'll take it with a hint of jasmine, mint, or mango, and I'll also happily drink it plain. Since overdoing it with caffeine tends to make me a jittery stress ball, however, I've been trying to limit myself to 3 cups a day. I still like to have a cup of hot something when I'm not chugging green tea, so I've taken to drinking copious amounts of raspberry leaf and rooibos throughout the day. You've probably...

I've been trying my best to incorporate more healthy/good fats into my diet lately, and the three pictured above have become my absolute favorites.

Avocados- My favorite way to eat this little guy is in the form of guacamole, but I've also been putting 1/2 of one in my green smoothie each morning. It adds a creaminess that is just the best. Avocados have lots of monounsaturated fat, which decreases our risk of heart disease and regulates blood sugar. WIN. Extra Virgin Olive Oil- The brand pictured above is...

Leave it to me to come down with a killer scratchy throat/steadily runny nose right in the middle of an already hectic semester. However, I refuse to make a trip to the doctor's office unless I am truly on my last leg (and I'm not there yet). Here's how I've been coping with feeling under the weather:

1) tiny citrus fruit

2) pot after pot of garlic & ginger tea

What's better than basic mint green tea? Well, that's easy--organic mint green tea in unbleached tea bags. And God bless BigLots for selling a big ol' box of just that for less than $5. I've been drinking it nonstop lately; I probably need to stock up before they sell out.

And speaking of delicious, healthy beverages, a recent on the benefits of apple cider vinegar prompted me to create a tasty drink involving ACV. It was super...

I woke up a few mornings ago craving tomato soup, and luckily we had all the ingredients needed to make it happen!

What I used:

2 medium carrots

1 large clove of garlic

1 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes

1 cup of not-chick'n broth

basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to taste

a small handful of shredded Parmesan cheese for topping (optional)

What I did:

First, I peeled the carrots and sauteed them in butter on low heat until...

Do you ever fall asleep thinking about what you'll eat for breakfast the next day? Well, I do. It's my preferred meal of the day, and unless it's awesome my day probably won't be.

Unfortunately, my breakfasts have gotten pretty boring lately. Don't get me wrong; I love a fried egg...but a fried egg atop plain oatmeal isn't exactly a mind-blowing creation.

Since I could clearly use some inspiration, I'm wondering: What's your favorite breakfast?

P.S. Enjoy your weekend! And speaking of breakfasts,...

Since popcorn is one of my very favorite snacks, I'm almost always looking for ways to fancy it up. I once added white chocolate chips a freshly-made batch, and the melted chocolately goodness completely cancelled out the shame I felt for consuming white chocolate.

Am I proud of that fact? No.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.

Anyway, when I saw a recipe for Mexican Popcorn on Shutterbean, I knew that I needed such a snack in...

In last Friday's post about my favorite food blogs, I completely forgot to mention one of my absolute favorites: Budget Bytes! Budget Bytes is full of simple recipes that cost very little to make, and many of them are healthy to boot! Each recipe includes the average cost for the entire recipe as well as the average cost per serving. For an unemployed student such as myself (ie: busy and usually overwhelmed), this blog is kind of amazing. Lately, Kirby and I have been...
