I recently ordered a Kombucha Starter Kit from Vegan Cuts, and it finally arrived a few days ago! All I need now is a big ol' glass jug and some fancy sugar, and I'll be good to go. Any tips or tricks from kombucha experts out there? I've only ever had store bought, but I'm pretty excited to finally be making my own batch. I ordered the strawberry green tea instead of the jasmine, and it smells like a dream come true.

One of my sweet friends Chelsey who blogs over at recently nominated me for The Liebster Award for up and coming blogs! Now, I know nothing about blog awards or the validity they possess, but I like Chelsey and I like answering questions about myself on the internet (remember Myspace surveys? THROWBACK). Anyway, here I go-- How to participate: 1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves. 2. Answer the questions that the nominator set for you plus create 11 questions for the people you’ve nominated to answer. 3....

I have a shameful confession to make: Until very recently, we were still using conventional detergent to wash our clothes, towels, and sheets. And when I say conventional, I do mean phthalate and sulfate-filled, bright blue, liquid garbage in a bottle. I'd been meaning to find a reasonably-priced natural alternative for quite some time, but life consistently gets the way of my trying to do right. Fortunately, I recently came across a few brands that seemed perfect for making the switch. is one...

I was moisturizing my face with a my jojoba/argan/lavender essential oil blend several nights ago when I discovered something altogether horrifying: there was mold growing in the oil mixture I had been applying to my face night after night. Sick, right?! After promptly disposing of the rest of the product, I racked my brain in hopes of pinpointing where and when my negligence occurred. The bottle in which I stored the oils had previously been used for homemade beet blush, but before filling it with the oil in question I washed it thoroughly with soap and then boiled it in hot water...

Leave it to me to come down with a killer scratchy throat/steadily runny nose right in the middle of an already hectic semester. However, I refuse to make a trip to the doctor's office unless I am truly on my last leg (and I'm not there yet). Here's how I've been coping with feeling under the weather:

1) tiny citrus fruit

2) pot after pot of garlic & ginger tea

Today I’ll be reviewing the second product I received: the Botanical Facial Toner for combination skin. Ingredients (provided with product packaging)- purified water, glycerin, papaya extract, grapefruit extract, sambucus nigra extract, centaurea cyanus extract, rose extract, panthenol, zinc lactate, VP/acrylates lauryl methacrylate copolymer, sodium hydroxide, DMDM hydantoin, disodium EDTA. The  was down when I tried to search for this product and/or create a preliminary report for it, so I’m not sure what the hazard score would be. As with the polish, though, I didn't see any red...

When Jessica had a giveaway on a few months back, I entered and was actually one of the lucky winners to get a tube of her Argan Lip Treatment for free! Today I'll be reviewing it. Ingredients (provided at starkskincare.com)- “Argan oil, Cocoa seed butter, candelila wax, vit. E, pure essential oils.” This preliminary report I created for this product in the Cosmetics Database gives it a low hazard score of 1. The only ingredients with hazard scores above 0 are tocopherol and unspecified...
