Tell Your Friends:

Dr.Hauschka Volume Mascara

When Terri of Integrity Botanicals contacted me about trying a few products from their online store, it took me all of five minutes to pick three that I just knew I’d enjoy. I’ll be reviewing the first of those three today: Dr Hauschka’s Volume Mascara in black.

Ingredients (provided at integritybotanicals.com)- “Water (Aqua), Pyrus Cydonia Seed Extract, Alcohol, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Sorbitol, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Acacia Senegal Gum, Cetearyl Alcohol, Beeswax (Cera Alba), Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Lysolecithin, Euphrasia Officinalis Extract, Silk (Serica) Powder, Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Wax, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Fragrance (Parfum), Citronellol*, Geraniol*, Linalool*, Mica, Hectorite, Maltodextrin, Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Carmine (CI 75470), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Silica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Ultramarines (CI 77007)

*Component of natural essential oils”

The preliminary report I created for this product in the Cosmetics Database gives it a hazard score of 5. While that doesn’t sound like the best, I’m not too worried since many of the higher scoring ingredients are components of essential oils. As for the fragrance, “Dr.Hauschka fragrances are carefully composed, proprietary blends of the purest, highest quality essential oils.” Phew!

Some great things about this product:

1. It’s free of parabens & phenoxyethanol.

Product Description(provided at integritybotanicals.com)- “Add full volume to lashes and emphasize eyes with this natural mascara.  Beeswax, rose and candelilla waxes are combined with silk powder to plump, thicken and protect lashes. Soothing black tea and eyebright extracts care for delicate skin around the eyes.  Neem leaf extract strengthens lashes. Smudge resistant.  Dermatologist and opthamologist tested.”

Price$29.95 for a .34 fl. oz. tube.

Performance– Move over 100% Pure, because something truly incredible just happened to my lashes. I mean, they’ve always been long enough on their own, but Dr. Hauschka’s Volume Mascara really brings the volume. It isn’t prone to smudging either, so double win! You guys (who’ve been reading for a while) know how much I love my 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara, but Dr. Hauschka might’ve just taken its place as my #1 fave. For parties and fancy times that call for the fanciest lashes, at the very least.

Oh, and here I am wearing it:

Dr. Hauschka

Dr. Hauschka

Scent-earthy, nice.

Rating– I’ll subtract a point for the price, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think mascara was worth every penny. 9/10.

Would I purchase this item again? Without question.

*Product was provided by Integrity Botanicals. Opinions provided by me, as always.

ive tried the regular dr. hauschka mascara and it didnt do well with my stick-straight lashes and oily skin; i had dark smudges by midday :( i’ve had the volume mascara on my to-try list for a while, though, because i want to give dr. hauschka a shot! the performance looks nice on you .. any smudging issues at all? did it hold your curl all day?

Let’s see. As long as I set my concealer with some sort of powder, smudging isn’t an issue for me with this mascara at all. As far as holding a curl, I wouldn’t really know since I am the type of person who compulsively recurls throughout the day whether I need it or not (I know it’s a big no no to curl with mascara on; I’m the worst).

Hi! I’m really liking your blog, just found it today. I think I may love dr Hauschka mascara just as much as you do! Have you ever tried using it as a liquid liner? I just take my angled brush and apply the bit at the end of the wand to it. works like a charm!
