I’d been planning to buy a bottle of Peppermint Pimple Zapper to try when I finished my current bottle of tea tree oil, but Pamella beat me to the punch when she recently sent me a complimentary bottle. I’ll never ceased to be impressed by Karen’s Botanicals excellent customer service.
Ingredients (provided on product’s label and in the cosmetics database)- “Melissa Extract, Organic Burdock root, Organic Lavender blossom, Organic Rosebud, Organic Yarrow blossom, Organic Calendula blossom, essential oils of Lavender, Tea Tree, Lemon, Peppermint.”
This product receives a low hazard score of 1 in the cosmetics database. None of the individual ingredients have hazard scores above a 1.
Some great things about this product:
1. It’s free of synthetic fragrances, parabens, sulfates, phenoxyethanol, benzoyl peroxide, and synthetic salicylic acid.
2. It comes in a reusable glass bottle.
Product Description(provided at karensbotanicals.com)- “Peppermint Pimple Zapper is used for pimples, blemishes or acne. This formula is antiseptic, astringent, and anti-inflammatory. Pure organic plant extracts and essential oils clean and nourish skin while reducing oiliness and inflammation. ”
Price– $10 for a .35 oz. cobalt glass rollerball, $22 for a 2 oz. cobalt glass bottle, or $35 for a 4 oz. cobalt glass bottle (all prices found on the Karen’s Botanicals website).
Performance– Since I typically use only tea tree oil to treat blemishes, I couldn’t help but compare this product’s performance with my past experience with tea tree oil. Surprisingly, I found the Peppermint Pimple Zapper to be considerably less harsh than tea tree oil alone. It didn’t cause the redness or peeling that I often experience with one or two applications of tea tree oil, and I found that I could use it up to four times a day without irritating my skin at all. As for the pimple zapper’s effects on blemishes, I have seriously been blown away by the results. Within hours of applying this product to blemishes, I saw a significant reduction in the size and tenderness of pimples. Many had even disappeared completely by the next day. It worked on both small bumps that already had heads and larger ones that were still forming under the skin. Since skin type and the like vary from person to person, I realize that this product might work differently for you than it did for me. Still, I’d definitely suggest giving it a try. Maybe you’ll become a die-hard fan overnight like me!
Scent– While tea tree oil is an ingredient found in this product, I find its ordinarily loud scent to be hardly detectable in the Peppermint Pimple Zapper. I’d describe this product’s scent as minty with a hint of lavender.
Rating– 10/10. I’d subtract a point for the price if the performance didn’t completely justify it.
Would I purchase this item again? Without a doubt.
Oh and speaking of my skin, here’s how it’s looking these days:
