When I spotted a tube of Cranberry Glow Lip & Cheek Tint in my package of 100% Pure products, I knew my days of using Benetint were over (and I was thrilled).
Ingredients (provided at100percentpure.com)- “Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Honey Beeswax, Grapeseed Oil, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), pigments of Cranberry, Pomegranate, Blackberry, Raspberry, Cabernet Grape, Plum, Strawberry, Cherry, Peach, Apricot, Blueberry, Carrot and Tomato, Strawberry Extract”
The preliminary report that I created in the Cosmetics Database gives this product a hazard score of 1! The only ingredient I left out, because the site didn’t recognize it, was plum (Strangely, I had no trouble finding it in the database on my own). Assuming that the “Vitamin E” used is tocopherol and not tocopheryl acetate (which is vitamin + acetic acid), then none of the individual ingredients have hazard scores above a 2. However, when I created the preliminary report, I listed tocopheryl acetate (4) just to be safe. I’m still unsure which a-tocopherol is, but since some of 100% Pure’s other products simply have “Vitamin E” listed as an ingredient (minus the a), we should probably assume that a-tocopherol is tocopheryl acetate.
Some great things about this product:
1.It’s free of parabens, petrochemicals, retinyl palmitate, phthalates, artificial fragrance, artificial colors & chemical preservatives.
2. It’s cruelty-free (and the only animal product 100% pure uses is cruelty-free honey).
Product Description(provided at 100percentpure.com)- “100% Natural formula was designed to be used as a cream blush and a lip tint. Pure fruit pigments in a base of skin and lip softening and moisturizing shea and cocoa butters. Highly concentrated with anti-aging vitamins and antioxidants.”
Price– around $15 for a 7.5 gram tube.
Performance– Don’t you just love products that can be used for more than one purpose? I think it’s just swell that I can wear this tint on both my cheeks and my lips, and it’s remarkably flattering as either! As a cheek tint, it can easily be made as subtle or as striking as desired by applying fewer or more swipes. As a lip tint, it’s winds up being the prettiest shade of pink, and the shea and cocoa butters make my lips incredibly soft. For the picture below, I put a couple of coats on my lips, a dot on each cheek and rubbed it in. I was very happy with the results.
Scent– Fruity and delightful! Think cranberry, cherry, and grape.
Rating– 9/10! I deducted 1 point for the likely presence of tocopheryl acetate, but this product is otherwise golden.
Would I purchase this item again? Without a doubt! I am hooked. See ya Benetint. You can keep your crappy ingredients.
