Our friends Ben and Selena came to visit this past weekend, so I set aside all things productive and focused on all things fun. My only regret is that I didn't take any pictures. Sunday, after they left, I spent the rest of my day napping and lazily reading articles. Here are a few of my faves: I was delighted to read that drinking 8 to 14 glasses of red wine per week might reduce a person's risk of developing a cold. I read this interesting and inspirational article about the Whooping Crane being reintroduced in...

Below is my review for one of the two products that Eco Store USA generously sent me. Clementine and Winston both have especially dry and itchy skin during the winter months, so I was hoping that this Hypoallergenic Shampoo would provide them with some relief. Ingredients (provided at ecostoreusa.com)- “Aqua (water), Coco Glucoside,  Aloe Vera (certified organic), Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Glyceryl Oleate, Polysorbate 20Glycerin, Panthenol, Botanical extract blend of Chamomile,Calendula and Sage, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Oat Protein, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate,...

1) Eco Stiletto- Eco Stiletto is a wonderful online magazine that I recently discovered.  They have tons of articles about natural and green health and beauty, and you become eligible to win a prize every week just for subscribing to their free newsletter! 2) Traditional Medicinals Gypsy Cold Care Tea- I've had a wicked cold for the past few days, and this tea has been making me hate life a little less. It's tasty with or without honey. 3) Danielle's Apple Cider Vinegar and Green Tea Toner-  I may have a cold, but my skin has...

I'm not sure if I've discussed this with you guys before, but I am not one of those people who dreads bathing their dogs. I even enjoy it. I enjoy it so much, in fact, that I decided to post about it. My dogs are so cute that you have to be at least a little interested, right? I wish that I could've gotten some pictures of me brushing their teeth; it's quite the experience (which is probably why I have no...

Remember my post about silly animal paintings? Danielle wanted me to paint her two sweet cats, Chowder and Maxine, shortly after we moved into the new house. I tackled the project in my first little bit of free time: Next in line are my friends Taylor (who has an adorable dog named Nellie) and Katie (who owns two beautiful dogs named Sam and Mia). I'm pretty excited; dogs are my favorite. Several health and beauty related posts are on the way, I promise. Between looking for jobs and the frequent trips to target/marshalls/kroger/walmart, I haven't had much spare time for...

I’m kind of a worrywart.

As someone who refuses to watch the news, who abhors meeting new people, and who cringes at the mention of 2012, I can honestly say that I'm one of the most fearful people that I know. I've never cared for that flaw in my personality, and I've recently started to hate it.  So, logically, I'm going to something about it.  I'd guess that about 97% of the things that I worry about cannot be prevented, changed or stopped by me. That's ridiculous, and it's also really bad for my health. Did you know that people who worry about things that...

Any dog shampoo experts out there?

Clementine and Winston, my sweet dogs, have a big bad flea problem every year around this time.  We've been using Hydrosurge Oatmeal Soothing Shampoo from Walmart (I'm not proud of that; it doesn't have the best ingredients).  It's not relieving their itching at all, and it's certainly not killing the fleas.  We have resorted to using dish detergent, which kills the fleas.  Still, I'm very uneasy about using something that's made for washing dishes on my dogs. I also think that it's making their skin dry (duh.) and, as a result, more itchy. I've...

Everyone thinks that they have the cutest dogs around, but I actually do. Proof: Clementine has plenty love to give. She will lick your face for hours if you let her, and she is a big time cuddler.  She doesn't mind having her teeth brushed or her hair combed.  She doesn't object to the occasional application of lip gloss or the donning of a party dress.  She believes that all dogs are her best friends. She likes to run and is always excited to see me when I come home. Clementine likes to chew on important things. Winston has an old soul. He...

We didn’t even tell ghost stories, and I still enjoyed myself.

Link to We didn’t even tell ghost stories, and I still enjoyed myself.

I went camping with my friends, my dogs, and my boyfriend last weekend. It was magical! the highlights: I got to spend time with two of my sisters. They are big fun. Clementine had the time of her life. Winston was climbing on everything within reach of his stubby little legs. Amidst all the beautiful nature, we found this rock that looked suspiciously like a penis. Kirby got stuck on a rock wall for a minute. Yes, she has a dog backback. It carried her treats, portable bowl, and a small amount of water. We got a chance to rough it like big strong men. It consisted of blueberry...
