Lemongrass Oil as a Flea Deterrent

Link to Lemongrass Oil as a Flea Deterrent

Since the warm weather and the fleas have arrived in Lake Charles (however briefly their stay may be), Clementine and Winston have been a little extra itchy. According to The Complete Book Of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy, lemongrass oil is an effective at deterring and discouraging  fleas, and the book suggests mixing a drop with their shampoo. I, of course, had to try this out immediately. Last night, after brushing their tiny teeth with Triple Pet All Natural Toothpaste (which I've been trying to remember to do daily),  I gave each of them a lemongrass and...

Link to Yogi Ginger Tea is great for overeaters like me!

I've had a cup of Yogi Ginger Tea after dinner for the past three nights, and each time I was pleasantly surprised to find that it actually made me feel less full! I've been a fan of Yogi Ginger Tea for a while (I was actually convinced that I had posted about it at some point, but I searched high and low and found nothing), but only because it's 100% organic and 100% tasty. I never knew it could actually make me hate myself a little less after a meal! I'm not at all promoting a lifestyle of...

Link to Jason Natural Sea Fresh Toothpaste Review

In the past, I've encountered natural toothpastes that I love and natural toothpastes that I hate. I've come to realize that trying a new, natural toothpaste is quite the adventure. Until the toothbrush touches my teeth/gums/tongue, I'm not sure if I'm about to discover a new favorite or something so foul that I have to hold my nose to get through a few minutes of tooth-brushing. Ingredients (provided at nutrasanus.com)- “Calcium carbonate, aqua (purified water), vegetable glycerin, sodium cocoyl glutamate, mentha viridis (spearmint) leaf oil, carrageenan, aphanizomenon flos aquae (blue green algae), aloe barbadensis (aloe...

Link to Bath Time

I'm not sure if I've discussed this with you guys before, but I am not one of those people who dreads bathing their dogs. I even enjoy it. I enjoy it so much, in fact, that I decided to post about it. My dogs are so cute that you have to be at least a little interested, right? I wish that I could've gotten some pictures of me brushing their teeth; it's quite the experience (which is probably why I have no...

After trying several different kinds of Tom's of Maine toothpastes, I've come to realize that they are all flawed in some way or another.  Most of them have Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (and not to mention fluoride: don't even get me started on fluoride), and the ones that are SLS and fluoride free still don't freshen my breath.  I'm a frequent flosser, a mouth-washer, and a tongue brusher...so I'm pretty sure that it's no fault of my own. After giving up on Tom's of Maine, I decided to try Burt's Bees Fluoride-Free Whitening Toothpaste. Since Burt's Bees steers clear of SLS, I...

A New Year’s Resolution of Sorts

Link to A New Year’s Resolution of Sorts

I remember very clearly the day that I became curious about the ingredients in the health and beauty products I use.  It happened after reading an internet news article about a girl dying as a result of using too much perfume. As to whether or not this article was bullshit, I really have no clue.  I read some really disturbing things about parabens, preservatives used in many cosmetics and toiletries, and sodium lauryl or laureth sulfates, which are cleaning agents. I felt overwhelmed, so I decided that I would try to avoid those two ingredients at least. I began buying...
