Coping With Cold Weather

Here lately, Lake Charles has been a chilly, rainy, ridiculous mess. Cold weather without snow really brings me down, so here's how I've been coping: Having several cups of warm tea throughout the day, like the delicious Earl Grey that I purchased yesterday. Relaxing in bathtubs filled with hot water and either homemade bath soak or essence soak. Wearing Kirby's warm and comfy beagle sweatshirt. Fortunately, it's also pretty cute. How do you deal with cold...

Oh, Netti Pots.

I am still sick, and it's the worst. Something I forgot to mention yesterday, though, is a netti pot. As far as I'm concerned, a netti pot is the kind of thing that a sick person should always have within arm's reach (specifically if your nose is stopped up and/or you're suffering from a sore throat). For the past few days, I've been using my cheap plastic netti pot like it's going out of style. All this netti talk reminds me that I didn't actually get the beautiful netti pot that I wanted for Christmas. To top it...

An Early, Lovely Christmas Present

Link to An Early, Lovely Christmas Present

Kirby gave me one of my Christmas presents early, and (with the help of my immediate family) I tried it out the night before last. It's a clear glass tea pot with loose tea infuser and 12 flowering teas! The twelve teas are all green tea with jasmine (which is my absolute favorite, by the way), but they all have a different flower that blooms when you pour hot water over it! That guy always knows just what to get me.

A Healthy New Year’s Resolution

Link to A Healthy New Year’s Resolution

I frequently give myself lifestyle improvement goals and never meet them.  It's something that I'm not proud of, but it has become a fact of my life. I'm putting my foot down this year, and I'm making a new year's resolution to exercise at least every other day and stick to it. I asked Kirby for Asics for Christmas because, well, I think that running and riding my bike might seem more appealing if I have some cool shoes to do it in. Also, the pair of Walmart sneakers that I've had since high school are a sad...

A Healthy Birthday Gift Basket

Today is my beautiful sister Danielle's birthday, and while I could never top the caring and thoughtful gifts that she gave me for my recent birthday (some lovely handmade pillowcases that she'll be posting about soon)... I still tried to buy her things that she will use and enjoy. One of the health food stores in Lake Charles is going out of business (sadly, it's probably the better of the two that we have), and everything in their store is 45% off! I even got the basket (the one that all the gifts are piled in) from there for...

Birthdays and Boyfriends

My 21st birthday was last week, and I was admittedly a little bummed out that I wouldn't be spending it with all of my close friends and family, but Kirby, being the swell guy that he is, made sure that it was a lovely day from start to finish. It started with birthday donuts and flowers, and it ended with birthday cuddling and Arrested Development (in between were birthday lunch at a delicious cafe and birthday sushi for dinner ). I'm a lucky girl. Damaging my hair never felt so classy. Honestly, this straightener has been kinder to my hair than...

The next few days are going to be incredibly hectic.  I'll be carrying lots of heavy things, driving nine hours, and then carrying more heavy things.  I probably won't have enough time to pee, much less post. So, this is me saying that I haven't fallen into an unattended manhole or suddenly become opposed to blogging. I'll be back in less than a week, hopefully. Don't stop reading labels... or something inspirational like that. Before you go, look at these pictures from an impromptu fake tattoo photo shoot that took place at my dad's house...

Jack Black, but not the actor/musician

The product pictured above was another Christmas present for Kirby. He says that it's fairly moisturizing (which is pretty important since he has very dry skin in the winter months) and that he really enjoys the scent.  It does smell great; it's a very masculine scent. I'm frequently tempted to use it, but I never follow through because I'm not sure if I would enjoy smelling like a man. I probably would. This product is paraben-free, sulfate-free, and has certified organic and vegan ingredients...if you're into that sorta...
