I love having soft feet and polished toes, but I do not love paying a stranger $20+ to touch all over my feet (not to mention all the harsh ingredients in the creams, scrubs, and polishes most nail salons use). To avoid this awkward, pricey, and potentially hazardous situation, I gathered all the necessary supplies and gave myself a pedicure just in time for the beach. If you too would like to fancy up your feet at home, I've provided a picture of the supplies I used and a list of the steps I took below.

Homemade Face Scrubbie Tutorial

I've been meaning to phase out my use of disposable cotton face pads for a while now, and I think I've finally found an inexpensive and cute way to do so (Btw-I still love my Debutante Face Scrubbies, but they're better for cleansing than toning...and I buy reusable cotton pads primarily for toning) . The little face scrubbies I made as part of my recent giveaway are ideal for both cleansing and toning.  The best part? They were surprisingly easy to make (which is good news for someone as uncrafty as I tend to be), so if you don't...

Link to Karen’s Botanicals Gentle Cleansing Lotion Review

When I heard Danielle raving  about her two new Karen's Botanicals products, I knew I had to try them for myself. We have similar skin types and look for the same things in cleansers/moisturizers, so I figured they'd be right up my alley. Also, I've tried and loved several of Karen's products before. In the process, I learned that her gentle and safe ingredients are hard to match and even harder to beat. For these reasons, I was positively giddy when Karen agreed...

I really enjoyed reading this Care2 article that lists 6 Natural Cures for Dry Skin. Thoughts: The article suggests removing makeup with olive oil, but I prefer taking off my eye makeup with coconut oil, because it comes off with much less effort (and everyone knows that the less you scrub the sensitive skin under your eyes, the less likely you are to get wrinkles). I can't wait to try that Greek Yogurt and Papaya Enzyme Conditioning Mask. It's at least tenth on a long list of masks that I need to try, and I mean it when I say...

Remember the Debutante Face Scrubbies that were on my little Christmas list? Well, my sweet friend Jade got me a set of them in white! Overall, I'm a big fan. I've been using them to apply toner to my face, and since they're textured.. I actually feel like I'm toning and exfoliating at the same time. What a treat! My only complaint is that since they're so thick and absorbant, I tend to use a lot more toner than I did with a disposable cotton...

Ingredients (provided at earthessentials.com)- “Water, Polyethylene, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glyceryl Stearate, Panthelol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Allantoin, Sorbitol, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, PEG-150 Distearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Acrylates/ C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA, Triethanolamine, Methylparaben, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance, Chromium Hydroxide Green.” I couldn’t locate this product on the Cosmetic Safety Database and, to be honest, I didn't bother looking up the all of the ingredients individually. Once I saw two of the ingredients that I usually try to avoid, Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Methylparaben, I figured that I'd be disappointed by a few of...

Exfoliating is important!

Link to Exfoliating is important!

As neurotic as I may be about cleansing and toning my face, I often forget to exfoliate. Sometimes I'll go weeks without exfoliation even crossing my mind. I usually start to notice a difference in my skin by week two of no scrubbin', though. My skin starts to look dull, and tiny whiteheads start to appear in the most inconvenient places. Why do I do this to myself when I know that this will consistently be the outcome?! That question's rhetorical; I don't know the answer and neither do you. Still, it's something I need to get on the ball...

Partially-Crystallized Honey Lip Scrub

Link to Partially-Crystallized Honey Lip Scrub

photo credit: Roberto Verzo My lips were feeling kinda crusty (probably from me being in the sun and putting tea tree oil on them when I had that spot of poison ivy), so I used the same local honey that I've been using to sweeten my Perfectly Pear Tea to scrub my lips.  The honey was/is beginning to crystallize, so I figured that it would exfoliate well..and it did! I coated my lips in...
