Why haven’t I tried Soapwalla products yet?

The title of this post poses a very good question, and it's one that I cannot answer easily. With all the wonderful Soapwalla reviews I've been reading lately (a deodorant review on Pure & a body oil review on No More Dirty Looks- just to name a couple), there's not a single thing stopping me from ordering every product listed for sale in Rachel's Etsy Shop (except for maybe my current unemployment). If the performance is as impressive as the ingredients...

The Perfect Homemade Deodorant?

Danielle made Angry Chicken's version of homemade deodorant a while back, and while she found the tiny heart bars (pictured above) she made using a silicone muffin pan very easy to apply, the combination of ingredients didn't eliminate and prevent her body odor like she'd hoped. Danielle promptly went back to her prior homemade deodorant, and left her unused bars in our refrigerator. I'm always up for trying new things, especially those that are health and beauty related, and Danielle knows this. So...

Grapefruit Coconut Body Scrub

Monday night, I made the dreamiest body scrub using a modified version of Adrianna's recipe over at A Cozy Kitchen. It smells delicious (actually, it smells a lot like my current deodorant + some coconut), and it's just what my dry, itchy skin needed. My knees, elbows, and feet have never felt better! I knew this scrub and I were meant to be the moment I saw the word grapefruit. My sweet neighbors across the street have given us permission to take advantage of their grapefruit...

Maybe I'm easy to please, but one of the Christmas gifts that I got most excited about was my Erbaviva Jasmine & Grapefruit Deodorant. I'd been longing for it ever since I tried and loved the Erbaviva Lemon & Sage Organic Deodorant. Ingredients (provided at erbaviva.com)- "Organic grain alcohol. Essential oils: Jasmine, Grapefruit, Ginger, Cedarwood, Cypress, Orange, Sage and Lemon." In addition to the ingredients listed on their website, the bottle lists a few more and classifies them all...

Yesterday, in my second Christmas list post, I mentioned to you guys that a deodorant review was on the way.  I typed it up shortly after that post. I couldn't wait to tell the world about Erbaviva Lemon & Sage Deodorant! I received a free sample of this deodorant in the mail a little over a week ago, and I quickly scrubbed my armpits to remove any residue of my homemade deodorant so that I could try the new deodorant immediately. Getting down to business is what I do best. Ingredients (provided at erbaviva.com)- "Organic grain alcohol. Essential...

Remember my little Christmas list from a few days ago? Well, I added some stuff to it. Wanna see? 1. Foxy iPhone pouch- I don't actually need this, but I'm a sucker for animal-adorned accessories. 2. Beautiful Turquoise Netti Pot- Maybe I can finally stop using my boring blue plastic one! 3. Subscription to Dog Fancy Magazine- I love dogs, and I love magazines. The end. 4. Subscription to...

Tea Tree Oil as a Deodorant: An Update

Link to Tea Tree Oil as a Deodorant: An Update

Remember that post I made about using tea tree oil as a deodorant? Well, it was great for the first few days, but a couple of problems eventually arose. The skin under my arms became very irritated, itchy, and almost raw (talk about a disgusting word!). I thought maybe it was happening because I should have been diluting it, but I added water and shook the bottle before each use but kept getting the same results. Needless to say, I had to switch back to homemade deodorant for now. I'm not complaining; It's never failed me...

YEAH DEODORANT!

I just read a year-old article about eco-deodorants, and now I think that I might have to try one or two of the ones that made the list. The homemade deodorant that I've been using is a-ok, but I'm feeling up to an armpit adventure. The Erbaviva Lemon and Sage Organic Deodorant looks particularly dreamy. I love the idea of spraying on my deodorant! It sounds less messy than applying it with my...

Tea Tree Oil is a pretty effective deodorant.

Link to Tea Tree Oil is a pretty effective deodorant.

I've been swiping a little tea tree oil under my arms for the past few days with a cotton swab instead of using deodorant, and I think I'm going to make a habit of it. The strong scent (which is pretty reminiscent of licorice) fades within ten minutes, and it keeps my armpits fresh until nightfall. I was a pretty huge fan of the homemade deodorant that I'd been using, but I feel about as okay with  putting tea tree oil on my skin as I do baking soda, and tea tree...

A New Year’s Resolution of Sorts

Link to A New Year’s Resolution of Sorts

I remember very clearly the day that I became curious about the ingredients in the health and beauty products I use.  It happened after reading an internet news article about a girl dying as a result of using too much perfume. As to whether or not this article was bullshit, I really have no clue.  I read some really disturbing things about parabens, preservatives used in many cosmetics and toiletries, and sodium lauryl or laureth sulfates, which are cleaning agents. I felt overwhelmed, so I decided that I would try to avoid those two ingredients at least. I began buying...
