I've recently started carrying a travel-size bottle filled with Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Pure-Castile Soap in my purse. I am no longer faced with either having to wash my hands with anti-bacterial sludge (that contains any number of questionable ingredients) or not washing my hands at all. I should've done this months ago; I feel good about life. My 21st birthday was last week, and I was admittedly a little bummed out that I wouldn't be spending it with all of my close friends and family, but Kirby, being the swell guy that he is, made sure that it was a lovely day from start to finish. Remember my post about silly animal paintings? Danielle wanted me to paint her two sweet cats, Chowder and Maxine, shortly after we moved into the new house. The next few days are going to be incredibly hectic. I'll be carrying lots of heavy things, driving nine hours, and then carrying more heavy things. As someone who refuses to watch the news, who abhors meeting new people, and who cringes at the mention of 2012, I can honestly say that I'm one of the most fearful people that I know. I've never cared for that flaw in my personality, and I've recently started to hate it. So, logically, I'm going to something about it. Maybe it's only because I'm on my period, but I've felt a very real sense of dread all day long. I drank two cups of coffee, and they successfully made me feel much worse. I keep thinking about all the bad things that may or may not happen and how little control I have over most things, and I feel like I may be going crazy. As a new year's resolution, I decided to cut dairy out of my diet.Why on earth would I do that? To make a long story short, I am not a baby cow. To make a short story long, milk is completely unnecessary. I can just as easily get calcium from almonds, oatmeal, wholemeal bread, dried figs, parsley, or kale (and the list goes on). Protein can be found in bread, pasta, brown rice, sunflower/sesame/pumpkin seeds, peas, beans lentils, tofu (among other things). Vitamin B12, a vitamin found in milk, can be incorporated into a dairy-free diet with certain cereals, soya milks...
