Tell Your Friends:

smoothie ingredients

I made a delicious smoothie recently, and the ingredients were as follows:

  • 2 heaping cups of frozen mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries)
  • 1 large banana, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup of freshly-brewed green tea
  • 2 handfuls of organic spinach
  • 1 serving of liquid vitamins (I was making enough for Kirby as well, but I was afraid that putting two servings of vitamins might make it taste like a flinstone vitamin).

If you’ve ever added spinach to a smoothie, then you know that it doesn’t alter the taste at all. That never fails to blow my mind. I couldn’t taste the green tea or the liquid vitamins either, but Kirby claimed he could sorta taste the vitamins. Adding in the banana and almond milk made the mixture sufficiently smooth, which meant that I didn’t need to add yogurt (a fact that was very pleasing to me, since I’m not a fan of yogurt in fruity concoctions…and we didn’t have any in the fridge). Drinking this smoothie awakened my longing for hot temperatures and swimming pools. Come on, summertime!!

Dawn, do you make your own almond milk? Also, are you making your smoothies in a food processor?

Hi Nick! I do make them in a food processor, but I do not make my own almond milk. Danielle and I made some once, but we just did it the one time. I’m not sure why we haven’t done it again, because I seem to remember it being pretty tasty.
