Yesterday, in my second Christmas list post, I mentioned to you guys that a deodorant review was on the way. I typed it up shortly after that post. I couldn’t wait to tell the world about Erbaviva Lemon & Sage Deodorant!
I received a free sample of this deodorant in the mail a little over a week ago, and I quickly scrubbed my armpits to remove any residue of my homemade deodorant so that I could try the new deodorant immediately. Getting down to business is what I do best.
Ingredients (provided at erbaviva.com)- “Organic grain alcohol. Essential oils: organic lemon, sandalwood, organic patchouli, organic sage and organic tea tree oil.”
The ingredients on the bottle are slightly different..they are: alcohol, lemon peel oil, sage oil, patchouli oil, tea tree leaf oil, citral, limonene, and linalool.
I couldn’t locate this specific product on the Cosmetic Safety Database, but I did find a very similar Erbaviva Deodorant. It received a hazard score of two.
Some great things about this product:
1. It made from USDA certified organic ingredients.
2. It’s free of aluminun, parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrance.
Recyclability- The bottle is made from #1 plastic.
Product Description ( also provided at erbaviva.com)- “If you’re one who loves to feel fresh but recoils after a quick scan of the content label on most conventional deodorants, then our award winning Organic Deodorant is just the product for you. By blending organic extracts of Sage, Lemon, Patchouli, and Tea Tree Oils with organic grain alcohol, we’ve created a sweet smelling product that counteracts the growth of bacteria but doesn’t clog pores. Aluminum & Chemical Free!”
Price-$18.00 for 3.8 oz, or $6.00 for 1 oz
Performance- This deodorant totally exceeded my expectations when it came to performance. I’ve tried plenty of natural deodorants before, and most of them barely kept my armpits smelling fresh for a couple of hours. I’ve been using this stuff every day for over a week, and it hasn’t failed me yet. One spray after my morning shower, and I’m good to go for the rest of the day. Also, I love that applying this deodorant is so easy. My least favorite part of the homemade deodorant that I was previously using was how messy and cumbersome applying it with my hands could be.
Scent- It smells fresh, clean, and lemony, which is to be expected. I don’t dislike the scent at all, but I wouldn’t mind something a little more feminine (which is why I’m asking for the Erbaviva Jasmine & Grapefruit Organic Deodorant for Christmas). The Lemon & Sage is very gender neutral.
Rating- I’m gonna go with a 9. I have only one complaint with this product, and it’s that the ingredients aren’t the best in the world. Still, I’ll take alcohol and essential oil constituents over phthalates, aluminum, and parabens any day.
Would I purchase this item again?: I’m excited to try a different scent, but I’d totally purchase this deodorant again.
