Tell Your Friends:

Kristen Stewart

What a fox! (photo courtesy of nylonmag.com)

Looking at pictures of Kristen Stewart with blonde hair has convinced me that I may also need blonde hair.  It’s one of those things that I’ll probably never do, but it’s fun to pretend. Now would be the perfect time to radically alter my physical appearance, too, since I’m moving and I won’t have to deal with all the surprised/disappointed faces.  I’m currently scouring the internet for ways to safely lighten my hair.  My conclusion: There aren’t many. Surprise, surprise.

I haven’t given up yet, though. I’m gonna talk to all the hairstylists/colorists that I know and see what they say. Any thoughts on the matter?

I too have been thinking of drastically altering my hair color, except I want to go red! A vibrant red. Sadly, with my new job, I don’t see it happening any time soon.

My advice would be to get your hair done professionally. Because your hair is so dark, it is kind of a gamble to do it yourself. I think that’s why so many people end up with orange hair because they aren’t careful. Color can be tricky. Also, if you want to ease into the new blonde look, you could start with highlights, then just gradually add more and more until your hair is almost blonde all over. It would take time of course, but it wouldn’t be so drastic. You make like the drama though!

I think red would look nice with your skin tone.
And I think you’re right, professionally is definitely the way to go. I bleached the tips of my hair to dye them pink in high school, and before putting the pink on… the bleached portion was a sick orange vitamin-laced urine color. I’d never risk going any lighter at home. I don’t trust myself. I guess I didn’t make that clear enough in the post. My real dilemma is whether or not a professional can do it without making my hair look super damaged.

Aveda salon, Dawn! Maybe I can transport my dreamy girl to you. I’m glad you’re obsessed with the IDEA of blonde as well. My hair refuses to hold color/look decent and I’m very happy with the Aveda dyes. On a different yet hair related note, I have the New! Lush shampoo bar… It’s a dream. My whole family is in love with it. And they don’t even care that it’s handmade and preservative free! You got to check it out.
