The Greenest List I’ve Ever Made

Link to The Greenest List I’ve Ever Made

I've compiled a list of ten natural, green, and/or organic things that I wouldn't mind having. My birthday's in August. Har har. 1) Demeter Naturals Mimosa Perfume- Demeter Naturals fragrances are made from pure essential oils and have no Phthalates (put simply, Phthalates are chemicals that are intended to make scent last longer that are easily absorbed by our skin).

2) LunaPanties-Basically, they have organic cotton pads sewn into them.  The extra liner shown in the picture is for days with heavier flows.  I could easily make something like this at home, but I love that...

Zevia is pretty tasty.

I drink a lot of water. When I'm not drinking water, I'm usually drinking fruit juice, herbal tea, or black coffee.  I swore off regular soda a few years ago after reading some really awful things about high fructose corn syrup (and settled for the occasional Mexican Coke), and I've never cared for the taste of artificial sweeteners that are in Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi (or the heath risks associated with them, for that matter).  I did some research on Stevia before purchasing Zevia Natural Diet Soda for the sake of making an informed decision, and...

I have tried several different toners in the past few years, but I usually ended up throwing them away or simply forgetting to use them when the bottle was still half full.   I never really saw enough of a difference in my skin to continue using or purchasing them. But after buying and loving Karen's Botanicals Rehydrating Olive Oil Cleanser, I decided to give her toner a try.  I wasn't really surprised when I ended up loving it too.  The Melissa Rose Toner is for normal to dry skin.  I was reluctant to try the Fennel Sage...

Get outta town, olive oil.

Link to Get outta town, olive oil.

I coated the ends of my hair with olive oil before going to bed three nights ago.  I thought that I remembered trying it before, but I must have been wrong because I do not at all remember the greasiness that ensued.  I used baking soda the next morning in the shower and thought everything was fine. BUT my hair still looked wet after it was completely dry! I had to put it up while I was at work; it looked that gross.  All the shampooing that I had to do to make my hair normal again definitely undid...

I drink tap water; I don’t need fluoride in my toothpase.

Link to I drink tap water; I don’t need fluoride in my toothpase.

After trying several different kinds of Tom's of Maine toothpastes, I've come to realize that they are all flawed in some way or another.  Most of them have Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (and not to mention fluoride: don't even get me started on fluoride), and the ones that are SLS and fluoride free still don't freshen my breath.  I'm a frequent flosser, a mouth-washer, and a tongue brusher...so I'm pretty sure that it's no fault of my own. After giving up on Tom's of Maine, I decided to try Burt's Bees Fluoride-Free Whitening Toothpaste. Since Burt's Bees steers clear of SLS, I...

Danielle is smart.

Danielle has been urging me to replace my shampoo with baking soda for at least a year now, and I finally tried it out in the shower this morning. Actually, it was this afternoon. I slept in, and I feel pretty good about it. I feel pretty good about my hair too. I put a quarter-sized wad(I wish I could think of a less disgusting word to use) in my palm, mixed it with a little water, massaged it into my scalp for about thirty seconds, rinsed it out,...

Link to I got bored and made a headband.

I've been really wanting a fancy headband in my life, but I'm a little broke right now.  Today I cut a flower out of an old dog shirt and sewed it onto an old headband with a button and some thread.  It was easy; it only took about ten minutes. I'd really like to make more, but I need to get my hands on some pretty fabric...

It’s like Raisin Bran Crunch, only better for you.

I love Raisin Bran Crunch, but I do not love high fructose corn syrup (and I don't even know what the hell modified corn starch is).  I recently finished a box of Flax Plus Pumpkin Raisin Crunch, and it's comparable in taste but has much better ingredients.  The ingredients are organic organic organic, and who doesn't love flax?! It keeps you regular, man.  I suggest trying it with rice milk.  It's a...

Louisiana might actually suck less than Mississippi.

Link to Louisiana might actually suck less than Mississippi.

Last weekend I took a trip to Lake Charles, Louisiana with Kirby, Danielle, and Kyle.  Danielle and Kyle are going to grad school in Lake Charles, and they are planning on buying a house since they will be there for at least three years.  Kirby and I are tagging along because we generally go with the flow (also, Danielle and Kyle are two of the coolest cats we know).  While in Lake Charles, we looked at a few houses and may or may not have found the perfect one. We discovered a restaurant with tasty vegetarian options.  We...

Care for a cup of period tea?

Link to Care for a cup of period tea?

That's what I'm calling this new Traditional Medicinals female toner tea that I recently bought. The box tells me that it's supposed to "support female systems by combining herbs to support healthy menstruation, purify blood, and strengthen and tone the uterus."  I have no real way of knowing if this stuff actually works (even though the box tells me that the ingredients speak for themselves), but I like the taste so I'm drinking it whether or not it actually helps my girly parts.  Herbal ingredients include raspberry leaf, licorice root, strawberry leaf, nettle leaf, angelica root, blessed thistle herb, cramp...
